The Office
The unsexy side of life abroad.
Welcome to the Office — the engine room of the house.
The room where I keep all the paperwork I never wanted to learn how to understand.
It’s where I cried after realising my visa had been cancelled mid-flight because I’d forgotten to get a re-entry permit. Where I found out I was on overstay and had to haul ass out of the country, terrified, humiliated, and hundreds of dollars down.
It’s where we spent two years and countless baht trying to legalise two foreign staff and register a business on an island where no one really knows what they’re doing.
And it’s also where I come when I finally do figure it out — when the bank account opens, or the taxes get paid, or the visa gets stamped. Not to feel powerful, but to feel… safe again. To exhale.
This room isn’t glamorous, but it’s necessary.
If you're buried in forms or just trying to make life abroad legal, this room is for you.
